wBANC
Interference Management & Coordiation

Back to Agenda

Operating in the license-exempt Part-15 frequencies, interference spawned from WISPs “stepping on one another” often ends up just “making life difficult for all.” N matter how “tough” your radio is, interference is generally bad for everyone, and the rather than “fighting it out,” the better method is usually to work together and coordinate frequencies so that we can offer a reliable, carrier class solution against the REAL competition, e.g., the phone and cable companies.

Wireless Broadband Access Network Coordination (wBANC) is a practical solution to the critical problem of interference in the license-exempt Part-15 frequencies with a multi-operator environment. BANC addresses this problem with a Frequency Management Program that involves

  • Operator Coordination
  • Operator Involvement
  • Operator Controlled Interference Resolution
in order to facility reliable wide-scale license-exempt system deployment.

wBANC consists of a group of fixed-wireless operators that are working together to minimize interference and maximize reliability and spectrum efficiency. wBANC provides a common point of coordination by and between its participants. Other operators and users of unlicensed fixed-wireless spectrum are encouraged to communicate with wBANC members or join.
