The WiMAX Forum is working to facilitate the deployment
of broadband wireless networks based on the IEEE802.16
standard by helping to ensure the compatibility and
inter-operability of broadband wireless access
equipment. The organization is a nonprofit
association formed in June of 2001 by equipment and
component suppliers to promote the adoption of IEEE
802.16 compliant equipment by operators of broadband
wireless access systems.
The Rural Broadband Coalition (RBC) is a technology and
provider-neutral national advocacy and service
association. RBC serves Internet service
providers, telecommunication companies/utilities,
for-profit utilities, rural electric cooperatives,
municipalities, public utility districts, tribal
communities, technology companies, government
organizations, associations and other interested parties
that are dedicated to supporting the deployment of
broadband Internet access to rural America.
The Western Rural Development Center (WRDC) is one of
four regional centers funded by USDACREES to strengthen
the capacity of local citizens to guide the future of
their rural communities. Each Center links the
research and extension capacity of regional land grant
universities with local decision-makers to address a
wide range of rural development issues.
The Public Technology Institute is a national non-profit
technology research and development organization based
in Washington, DC, representing local governments.
Our mission is to bring the benefits of technology to
local governments. Membership in PTI is open to
all local governments. To fulfill our mission, and
in recognition of the close collaboration we have
enjoyed with industry, PTI has established a special
membership category for our Industry Partners.
Tower-pro originally started as a mailing list founded
on March 21, 1999 by John Hettish and thirty-four
members of the Land Mobil Radio (LMR) list. Since
then, Tower-pro has grown, with it's 1800+ members, into
the forum for the discussion of issues that concern
individuals who make a living climbing and working on
communications towers. Tower-pro is the
"grapevine" of the tower industry.
WISPA - the Wireless Internet Service Providers
Association, is dedicated to promoting and improving the
WISP industry.
The Washington Bureau for ISP Advocacy (WBIA) serves as
a grassroots educational organization and an advocate on
behalf of ISPs, CLECs, technology innovators, suppliers,
aggregators and consumers who recognize the need for
choice and call for retaining the first tier of
independent ISP connectivity to the Internet!
Independent ISPs for America is a group that educates
its members on better business practices, marketing and
new technologies - ways for the Independent ISP to
compete in the shifting sands of telecom. In
addition, IIA is there to edify the FCC, Congress and
state governments on the impact that proposed rules and
bills will have on this dynamic market segment.
The WiMAX Global Roaming Alliance (WGRA) is a working
group of wireless broadband and global roaming service
providers, equipment manufacturers, commercial entities,
state and municipal governments and other industry
participants that can benefit from being a part of
an organization dedicated to the simplified
implementation, distribution and use of competitive,
ubiquitous wireless broadband services in major
metropolitan areas and rural locations.
