CPT300: Advanced Canopy Training

This one-day instructor-led course that teaches advanced topics pertaining to Canopy systems.  This course builds off the foundation established in the Canopy Technical Training course, covering both RF and IP topics in more depth.  Labs provide in-depth hands-on experience working with Canopy equipment (Access Point and Subscriber Modules).

Training Objectives, "CPT300 Advanced Canopy Training"

Review Fundamental Key Concepts:

  • Frame layout and T/R ratio - what it means and why it matters
  • Importance of sync, shielding, and grounding
  • Learning bridge network - what it means and why it matters
  • Connectivity to element you are configuring

Understand and demonstrate the following RF topics:

  • Collocation
  • Collocation frame exercise calc
  • Downlink data %
  • Near/far problem
  • Multiple operators and Transmit Frame Spreading
  • Advantage - 1X/2X
  • P8 and P9 series
  • Operation/throughput/range
  • 25 MHz spacing
  • Use of spectrometer
  • Reflectors
  • Satellite radio - 2.4
  • 2 and 3 channel 900 MHz filters
  • Grounding, shielding, power

Understand and demonstrate the following IP topics:

  • IP address network design - transport vs management
  • Canopy on non-routable IP addresses
  • Viruses, broadcast storms, denial of service
  • NAT/DHCP
  • Filtering
  • VLAN, VLAN priority
  • Security levels, from password to lockdown
  • QoS
  • VoIP
  • Congestion/oversubscription
